Magnolia Bakery- Manhattan, New York

Alrighty, I'm working pretty hard to update this blog in one day, haha. Have you heard of Magnolia Bakery before? It's a bakery that has been popular since it was on a certain popular show and I always heard good things by word of mouth on their cupcakes. So on the 8th, I took the opportunity to buy some cupcakes once I saw them while searching for Minamoto Kitchoan. The line, when you enter seems big, but it's organized and moves pretty quickly, which is why I couldn't take a lot of photos. They had everything cutely organized and had some items for sale like shirts. I also couldn't take photos of the cupcakes we bought, but it was a vanilla, a chocolate, and red velvet. The red velvet 't thick was heavenly; the cream wasn't thick or too sweet, it was fluffy and light, contrary to the pictures. :p My dad and brother had the chocolate and vanilla, but considering how fast they ate it, I'd say they enjoyed it pretty well.~

Visiting Laduree in Manhattan

I waited about two years until I got the opportunity to visit Laduree. Laduree is a french confectionery shop, and is said to be the first place in France to originally popularize the macaron. Since they're known for being the longest shop to carry macarons, for some 200 years, I waited until I got the chance to try theirs. They also sold other sweets and chocolates, but I had my eyes for the macarons. They also sold a lot of quality items in their gift shop, ranging from candles and cards, to totes, key chains, and silk scarves. I wanted a tote, but it wasn't in my price range, unfortunately, (about $70!), so I went for one of the scarves, (all of them were cute, but I chose one that had my favorite colors in it. Wish it had a little blue.~) The scarf was a little more affordable, ranging about $35. The macarons are priced like other bakeries, and you can buy one or a couple; their is no limit. I bought four, a raspberry, a strawberry, rose petal, and a seasonal one, strawberry candy. The raspberry and one of the strawberry's had a type of jam in the center, while the rose and candy had a more cream type filling. My verdict? They were great! But they were more sugary than other versions; it's best not to eat all of them at the same time. It was all very soft and filling, and I did like it
a lot. Some people who are not fond of sweets might prefer a lighter variety, as I mentioned, they're very flavorful and delicious, and filling as well.

Fifth Avenue Spring Festival at Bay Ridge- Brooklyn, New York

So I finally went to another festival fairly recently! On June 2nd, in Brooklyn, Bay Ridge has  an annual street fair every year on June in 5th avenue that covers 68st to 85 st, and has everything you can imagine. Most street festivals in New York are free, so there's no admission price. The festival has everything you'd imagine for one; some rides on the side, and lots of music, food, sweets, and various vendors selling their goods. I used to go a few times when I was little, but I forgot when it usually occurred. I bought a fairy shirt from a vendor selling The Mountain brand shirts,( he knew how to tell fakes form real ones, and told me to search online on my phone to verify it.) I also got a cute little anime-style doll a Korean company makes, that a vendor was selling for $4. (In some of the gift shops, they get overpriced for $15, so I thought it was a bargain.) Unless there are weather changes, the festival usually starts in the beginning of June, and you can find more information here and here.
